Job Description
The Hallandale Beach Chamber of Commerce is currently expanding its sales team. The Chamber is a private, non-profit, membership-driven organization comprised of over 200 business enterprises, civic organizations, education institutions and individuals. Its mission is to provide leadership that will help create regional economic prosperity and success for its members in Hallandale Beach.
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for selling Chamber memberships to prospective non-member businesses by communicating the benefits of the Chamber. Provides detailed information on various programs offered through the Chamber and orients the client to the organization. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Requirements: The candidate must have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in the areas of sales or non-profit membership recruitment and retention. Candidate must possess excellent organizational skills in new sales, be self-motivated in meeting new people to engage them in the chamber, work well in a team environment and be willing to learn new selling skills and techniques; Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communications skills, a positive attitude, be a self starter and capable of taking initiative. Excellent computer and social media skills. Membership Director will project a professional image.
Basic Responsibilities: The Membership Director is responsible for meeting monthly membership budgeted financial goals, growing the Chamber’s membership base through recruitment, cultivating community relationships and developing system to identify new members’ expectations and needs. This individual will network extensively (physically and through social media) and be a positive representative of the Chamber in the Hallandale Beach community.
Job Duties:
  • To Develop a strategic and action plan for membership recruitment goals
  • To Identify new prospective members through:
  • New Occupational Licenses
  • Current databases of businesses
  • Personal networking at events (Chamber and other organizations)
  • To Enter new members information in Chamber database
  • To Manage membership database and ensure accurate membership data entries
  • To Welcome and network members at Chamber Events
  • To Participate in determining new membership annual goals
  • To Cultivate business alliances with current members/board members
  • To ensure seamless experience from member recruitment to Chamber engagement
  • To manage social media strategies
  • To coordinate ribbon cuttings, educational seminars, and networking Events
  • To attend and assist with Chamber events
  • To maintain internal membership administration.
  • To coordinate and suggest and implement new Membership benefits
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organization, time management and multi-tasking skills, detailed oriented
  • Must have previous sales experience
  • Self-starter with a professional appearance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Must have/maintain a dependable vehicle with proof of license and insurance
  • Ability to prospect/cold-call new businesses and to upgrade and sell major accounts
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • One who can think outside the box to offer new ideas, concepts, solutions, etc.
  • Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information
  • Must be a team player that works well in an adapting environment
  • Must have the ability to foster the values of member relations
  • Exceptional people skills with an outgoing personality
  • Flexible schedule
Education: Minimum of Associate’s degree in Business, Sales/Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism, or other related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous experience working for a Chamber of Commerce or other not for profit and knowledge of South Lake business community is big plus.
Salary : The Membership Director will receive an annual base salary of $20,000 and structured commission to be paid monthly on the 15th.
